Free Project: Technical Research

Before beginning my project, I will start with further technical research for mobile photography to achieve the desired results.

As I will be using my own mobile phone for this project, which in this case is an Iphone 13, I will focus mainly on researching what techniques and features I can use with my mobile phone version.

After further research, I have concluded the features and techniques to use for the mobile photography shoot. The techniques needed to achieve the desired results include:

1. Shoot in burst mode = It is best to use when shooting some sort of action as it can capture the subjects in a perfect position even though they are doing such movements 
2. Adjust exposure whilst shooting = Adjusting the exposure as we are shooting will make it easier for the photographer as it limits our editing time
3. Activate the grid feature = Similar to a DSLR camera, activating the grid feature will enhance the rule of thirds composition and help in guiding to create a symmetrically satisfying image
4. Use HDR mode = By using the HDR feature, it will automatically help in creating an evenly-lit image
5. Portrait Mode = As said in the name, using the portrait mode for a subject will produce similar images as using a DSLR camera
6. Lock focus on subjects = Though Iphone cameras can focus automatically, sometimes they do not achieve the desired focus we want in the image therefore, locking focus manually is highly suggested
7. Stick to natural lighting = Even though the Iphone has features that may help in creating better images whilst in the dark, sticking to natural lighting will enhance the image better compared to inside a lit room
8. Use different perspectives = Shooting from different perspectives will create a different and interesting new point of view from the subject used 
9. Use live photo = This is quite similar to using burst mode, as the photo is live, we can then select the image that the subject looks perfectly in the position we want
10. Make sure lens is clean = As this is quite self-explanatory, making sure the lens is clean will create a more clearer and HD image from the photo shoot

Reflection

This research has extremely helped me in understanding the techniques for mobile photography. It transpired that I did not know much about the techniques I am able to use to produce professional images from only using my mobile phone. I will surely use this techniques and hacks for my mobile photography project shoot next week.
